He's not suggesting they get into this conversation in the hallway, but a very small part of him is worried that his friend might try to shut him out, or that he'll shut down and won't give him any straight answers. Carl doesn't know more than a few snatched bits of overheard conversation and he'd rather get it from the source...but he's also well aware that the source isn't too fond of opening up about trauma.
